Committees of Council
Mayor and Council meet regularly, both in committees and Council meetings. Unless otherwise noted, all meetings are open to the public.
The Council has five standing committees:
- Governance and Priorities Committee
- Planning and Land Use Standing Committee
- Community Development Standing Committee
- Corporate Services Standing Committee
- Environment and Infrastructure Standing Committee
The Governance and Priorities Committee is a standing committee comprised of the Mayor and all eight Councillors, and focuses on broad policy issues that affect the community or organization as a whole. The other four standing committees are comprised of three Councillors each and focus on specific areas of interest.
Decisions from standing committees are brought forward to Council meetings for formal ratification.
Council meetings include the Mayor and all eight Councillors. This is where bylaws, development permits, and other official business is formalized. Public hearings also occur during meetings of Council. All members of the public are welcome to speak at Public Hearings - no advance notice is required. If you wish to address Council on a topic other than a Public Hearing, please fill out the Request to Address Council form.Go to Top
