Urban Search and Rescue - Volunteer Orientation Session

Location: Victoria Fire Department, 1234 Yates Street
Are you calm under pressure? Available to assist your community in a disaster? The Victoria Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers to join its specialized Urban Search and Rescue Team. Be part of a caring and dedicated group of individuals that is ready to search for and rescue people trapped in collapsed or partially collapsed buildings in Victoria after an earthquake.

Volunteers should be physically fit, be able to work in a team environment, and be self-motivated. You must be willing and able to lift heavy objects, crawl, work in confined spaces or on ropes, and be willing to learn how to use specific power tools and other equipment associated with Urban Search and Rescue.

Volunteers must be 19 years of age or older and undergo an annual criminal record check.
