Public Works Day
14th Annual Public Works Day

On Wednesday May 22, 2013 the City of Victoria hosted the 14th annual Public Works Day, an open house to provide elementary students with an opportunity to learn more about how City of Victoria staff ensure the community stays healthy, safe and sustainable.
Over 640 students from 16 schools participated in 17 interactive stations. Stations included opportunities to learn about the new Kitchen Scraps and Garbage program, asphalt recycling, street cleaning, traffic and street lights and the City's Cut the Carbon climate action program.
National Public Works Week was May 19-25, 2013. The theme was "Because of Public Works..." Student learned about how City of Victoria staff improve the quality of life in our communities through clean water, safe streets and neighborhoods, efficient traffic and safe clean communities.
