Green Homes Programs
Here are current programs available to help you make your home more sustainable:
Tap by Tap- The City of Victoria is a proud partner in Tap by Tap 2013, a regional program that supports building managers and property owners in reducing their water and energy use. If you live in or manage a mutli-family residential property read more here. This program is coordinated by the Capital Regional District and funded by Fortis and BC Hydro. Tap by Tap is available on a first come, first serve basis for up to 3,000 residential units in the region. As an added bonus, each participating building will receive a customized walk-through assessment of further ways to save money through retrofits in common areas like hallways and laundry rooms.
Climate Action To-Go Kits - Head down to your local branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library to check out a kit that will help you reduce energy use and costs in your home.
Energy Smart Homes - Learn about rebates and incentives for safe, cozy and effective home heating systems.
Cost Effective Green Driving Tips - Over 145 City of Victoria staff recently took FleetSmart driver training with a focus on safety and techniques to increase fuel efficiency. Learn how you can reduce your carbon footprint and spend less on fuel.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations - Read about the 8 charging stations that are now available for use in City of Victoria parkades. Charging is included in the cost of your parking.
Secondary Suites Program - Read more to see if a Secondary Suite could be a good fit for your home. Please note: As of March 2013, the Secondary Suites Grant program is fully subscribed. Applications are currently being accepted for a wait list, in the event of a cancellation.
