Draft 2018 Financial Plan
Council has given preliminary approval to the 2018 Draft Financial Plan and is looking for input from the public before finalizing in early January, 2018.
As presented in the Draft Financial Plan, the 2018 operating budget totals $233.3 million and the capital budget totals $43.1 million. The proposed property tax increase is 2.77%; combined with utility fees, the overall costs to homeowners and businesses would result in a 2.8% increase from 2017.
Proposed Regulations For Single-Use Checkout Bags
The City is inviting review and comment on the draft Checkout Bag Regulation Bylaw from retail businesses, stakeholders and the public. Staff will report back to Council in December 2017 regarding the feedback received and any recommended changes to the bylaw. The City is taking action to foster a shift towards reusable checkout bags to keep avoidable waste out of our landfill, local waterways and off our beaches. Learn more here.
