Draft 2018 Financial Plan
Council has given preliminary approval to the 2018 Draft Financial Plan and has sought public feedback before finalizing in early January, 2018. Please note, this survey is now closed.
As presented in the Draft Financial Plan, the 2018 operating budget totals $233.3 million and the capital budget totals $43.1 million. The proposed property tax increase is 2.77%; combined with utility fees, the overall costs to homeowners and businesses would result in a 2.8% increase from 2017.
Proposed Regulations For Single-Use Checkout Bags
The City is inviting review and comment on the draft Checkout Bag Regulation Bylaw from retail businesses, stakeholders and the public. Staff will report back to Council in December 2017 regarding the feedback received and any recommended changes to the bylaw. The City is taking action to foster a shift towards reusable checkout bags to keep avoidable waste out of our landfill, local waterways and off our beaches. Learn more here.
Name That Library!
Thank you to those who submitted names to help name the new library branch that is set to open in James Bay in early 2018. The submission period is now closed. The suggested names will be shared with City Council for consideration, and the name of the new library will be announced in December. Learn more here.
Cecelia Ravine Park Improvement Plan
In 2016, the City of Victoria purchased new properties to add 0.5 acres of land to Cecelia Ravine Park, providing the opportunity to add new park features for the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood. We recently asked for feedback on the draft park improvement plan. Learn more here.

Topaz Park Improvement Plan
