Proposed Regulations For Single-Use Checkout Bags

The City of Victoria is considering new regulations to reduce single-use checkout bags. The City is taking action to foster a shift towards reusable checkout bags to keep avoidable waste out of our landfill, local waterways and off our beaches. Learn more here

Cecelia Ravine Park Improvement Plan

In 2016, the City of Victoria purchased new properties to add 0.5 acres of land to Cecelia Ravine Park, providing the opportunity to add new park features and community uses for the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood. The City is working on a plan that will guide what new amenities are introduced in this park starting in 2018. The first round of community feedback closed on August 20.  This feedback is now being reviewed and will inform some draft concept plans that will be shared with the community for another round of feedback this fall.  This second phase of engagement will begin in mid October.  Learn more here.

Participatory Budgeting

How would you invest up to $50,000 to improve life in Victoria?! If you have an idea for a project, initiative or event, now is the time to submit it to the Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee.  Later this year, the community will be invited to vote on which ideas they like the most.  Learn more here.

Short Term Rentals

On September 21, 2017 Council approved a proposed short term rental regulatory framework, which allows short-term rentals in principal residences, subject to a business licence and compliance with operating requirements. You are invited to join us at an open house on October 30, 2017 to find out about the regulations and provide your feedback. Off-Street Parking Review

The City is reviewing the Off-Street Parking regulations for vehicles and bicycles in order to support and encourage development, investment and affordable housing. A public open house is being held on Monday November 20 to get your feedback on the draft regulations. Read more here.

Topaz Park Improvement Plan

Thank you for sharing your feedback about future Topaz Park improvements between May 11 and June 12, 2017.  We are now compiling all of the engagement feedback.  This feedback will be used to help inform 2-3 concept improvement plans.  Please check back here later this fall as we will be looking for your feedback again to help refine the Topaz Park Improvement Plan.  More information can be found here.
