Public Art Inventory

The City of Victoria has partnered with the Capital Regional District (CRD), the District of Saanich and Township of Esquimalt to create a searchable online tool, known as the Public Art Inventory.

It is the first time that municipal-owned works of public art are "virtually" accessible in one place to anyone in the world.

The Public Art Inventory enables you to easily search public art pieces on the web by municipality or neighbourhood, artist, or art type (e.g., First Nations, monument, mosaic, sculpture). The web-based database is organized to display three main types of public art in Victoria: civic or municipal; community art; and private/developer public art. The art policies for participating municipalities are also available.

This tool will be of interest to visitors, residents, researchers and anyone who has an interest in the arts. The Public Art Inventory was developed in accordance with the City of Victoria's Public Art Policy and processes, and provides a comprehensive list of public art in the Capital City. Victoria is one of four municipalities in the Capital Region that has a public art policy in place.

The Public Art Inventory is a cooperative initiative of seven municipalities who support the CRD's Arts Development Service and is an extension of the LandMarks lecture series which presents speakers and discussions on a wide range of topics relating to public art.
