Board of Variance

Date & Time: January 14, 2016 (12:30pm - 2:00pm)

Category: Council & Committee Meetings (See all events in this category)

The Board of Variance is a quasi-judicial body which is independent from City Hall. The Board deals with appeals for minor variances, where compliance with the “Zoning Regulation Bylaw” would cause undue hardship.

The hearing begins at 12:30pm; each appeal is scheduled for 20 minutes.  Please note, applications may run longer than anticipated.

Please wait in the lobby (seating area) on the ground floor of City Hall (near the Pandora and Centennial Square entrances).  City staff will gather people for each appeal briefly describing the process and escorting attendees to the meeting room.

General public are welcome to attend and observe.  The Board, applicant(s) and notified adjacent property owners are the only people permitted to participate in the discussion.

Any letters of support or concern received from the adjacent property owners, by the Planning and Development Department, that has not been provided to the Board in advance of the hearing will be read aloud at the start of the appeal.
