Neighbourhood Plans

New neighbourhood plans for Victoria to be created with the community.

Ten new neighbourhood plans will be created for Victoria over the next four years. The plans will be developed under a new accelerated co-planning model. Citizens, community groups, neighbourhood associations, and businesses are encouraged to collaborate to help shape the plans for their neighbourhoods.

New neighbourhood plans for Fairfield, Gonzales, and Victoria West will begin in 2016. Sequencing of new neighbourhood plan development was based on consideration of neighbourhood characteristics, recent development pressures, and existing working relationships between neighbourhoods:

  • Year One 2017: Fairfield, Gonzales, and Victoria West
  • Year Two 2018: Fernwood, Jubilee, North Park, Rockland and Fort Street Corridor
  • Year Three 2019: James Bay, Hillside Quadra, Oaklands

Victoria has 13 neighbourhoods, with many neighbourhood plans created more than 20 years ago. A new plan for Downtown and Harris Green was completed in 2011, and a new local area plan for the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood is underway and set to be complete by 2017.
