Victoria's Sustainability Vision
Victoria, as a community and municipal corporation, is an urban sustainability leader inspiring innovation, pride and progress towards greater ecological integrity, livability, economic vitality, and community resiliency confronting the changes facing society and the planet today, and for generations to come.
The City of Victoria’s Sustainability Vision emerged from the Victoria Sustainability Framework [PDF - 159 KB] which was developed in partnership with the community and has set the tone for sustainability in our community. It has informed the development of the Official Community Plan and the Strategic Plan, and continues to inform City operations, policies and initiatives, and plans.
Climate Leadership Plan 2050
Guiding the way to a low-carbon, prosperous and healthy future.
The Climate Leadership Plan for Victoria is a series of targets, goals, strategies and actions for each of us to work toward.
By 2050, together we can reduce total community GHG emissions by 80% below 2007 levels and create a 100% renewable energy city.
The city’s role is to lead and inspire. The Climate Leadership Plan sets goals for the City to transform its own fleet, buildings, energy use, consumption habits, waste management and corporate practices. We aim to make the city’s buildings, fleets and public spaces into a microcosm or model of what is possible.
We’re launching the Climate Leadership Plan for community feedback. Read the plan here [PDF - 617 KB] and share your ideas on ways to sharpen our climate strategies or new things to consider.
This is just one way to get involved in the climate conversation. Starting in January and through early 2018, the City will be holding a series of events to reach out to groups across the community for focused input and discussion.
Together, we can develop a plan in which all Victorians can be proud.
Share your feedback on the plan by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
