City Appoints Executive Director of Economic Development
May 21, 2013Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Q5 Innovations and the Prosperity Pollinator movement, Ms. Sage Baker joins the City of Victoria in a two year contract position to lead economic initiatives within the Capital City and collaborate with regional and economic partners to tap into new opportunities together.

Ms. Baker's executive and entrepreneurial experience, combined with her passion for increasing the profile and productivity of the area, will serve as foundational assets in advancing economic development in Victoria. She will focus on economic priorities including supporting a vibrant downtown retail sector, supporting the implementation of the downtown core area plan, harbour planning and development and will work very closely with local business agencies to grow the economy.

Before founding Q5 Innovations, Ms. Baker was General Manager with FTI Consulting overseeing the west coast US and Canadian markets. Ms. Baker is also the former VP of Global Corporate and Investor Relations with Aspreva Pharmaceuticals,where she was Vice President of Global Corporate & Investor Relations responsible for strategic planning, corporate communications, investor and public relations, and internal communications.
Ms. Baker is positioned well to assess and strategize on the many opportunities that exist for Victoria as outlined in Victoria's Economic Development Strategy.This will include a focus on defining market needs and identifying growth opportunities for the future.Sage has taken large corporations to their next level of prosperity and vision while always being grounded and connected in community at a grass roots level.
The Executive Director position is a two year contract reporting to the City Manager. Ms. Baker will start in the role June 3, 2013.Go to Top
