City of Victoria and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 730 Reach Four-Year Agreement

The City of Victoria and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 730 have negotiated a new collective agreement.

The collective agreement covers a four-year term that starts January 1, 2012 and ends December 31, 2015. The agreement includes a 2.5% wage increase per year, and increased training opportunities and staffing to better meet the operational needs of the Victoria Fire Department and serve the community. The bargaining was done quickly and was achieved without the use of a mediator.

This is the first time in recent history that the City and IAFF Local 730 have negotiated a settlement that includes future years within its term of agreement, as well as being completed in advance of Vancouver’s IAFF Local 18’s negotiations.

IAFF Local 730 represents 113 members. The Victoria Fire Department provides exceptional fire and rescue services, fire prevention education and emergency management to the Capital City.
