Potential candidates for Mayor and Council will be able to submit their nomination papers for the 2014 Municipal Election as of 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 30. The deadline for nominations is 4 p.m. on Friday, October 10.

Nomination forms for all candidates are available at the Legislative Services office in City Hall. Nomination papers must be filed at City Hall on weekdays between September 30 and October 10, 2014, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. except on October 10 when the deadline is 4 p.m.

Late nomination papers will not be accepted.

On October 10 at 4 p.m. the Chief Election Officer will officially declare the list of candidates for both Mayor and Council. That list will be available online the same day by 5 p.m. On Tuesday, October 14, the Chief Election Officer will officially declare the Notice of Election. This year, to assist voters the City will post additional information on each candidate on the City’s website.

General voting day for the Municipal Election is Saturday, November 15. Voters will be asked to vote for one Mayor, up to eight Councillors, and recommend three Councillors for the CRD Board. Voters will also vote for up to nine School Trustees for the Greater Victoria School District No. 61 Board. In addition, a non-binding question will be added to the ballot in Victoria asking “Are you in favour of reducing the number of municipalities in the Capital Regional District through amalgamation?”
