Council Begins Consideration of 2016 Draft Financial Plan

At a Special Governance and Priorities Committee meeting on November 9, Council  will begin consideration of the draft 2016 Financial Plan.

The draft Financial Plan was developed based on Council’s direction for a target maximum tax increase of inflation plus 1%. Council will review and discuss all of the proposed budgets over a series of meetings in October and November.

Once Council has given preliminary approval by first reading of the financial plan bylaw, public consultation will begin. Citizens will be given the opportunity to provide input on the financial plan through a variety of methods, culminating with an e-town hall in January (date TBD). Comments can be provided in person, online, through social media, or by telephone.

Upon completion of the public consultation, Council will have an opportunity to consider the feedback and make changes to the financial plan before giving final approval prior to May 15, 2016 as required by legislation.
