Planned Traffic Signal Outage at Douglas and Finlayson Intersection Wednesday

Please be advised that on Wednesday, April 1, the traffic signals at the Douglas Street and Finlayson Street intersection will be turned off starting at 6:30 a.m. in order to install new traffic signal poles. Flag-persons will be controlling traffic and the work is expected to last until 4 p.m.

The City normally plans for road construction to occur outside of peak commuting hours, however, this work will start at 6:30 a.m. due to the limited availability of the specialized type of crane needed to lift the large traffic signal poles being installed. Crews are aiming to minimize disruptions to inbound morning traffic by starting work on the northbound side of the intersection and will then continue to the southbound side of the intersection.

There will be temporary lane closures in the intersection as needed in all directions for 10 – 20 minutes at a time throughout the day as a crane installs the new traffic signal poles. The replacement work is a continuation of the work underway to facilitate priority bus lanes on Douglas Street.

Drivers and cyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.
