Victoria Celebrates Canada Day - Check Out What's Planned!
May 18, 2015
To celebrate Canada’s 148th birthday, the City of Victoria is pleased to announce an impressive line-up of family-friendly events, multicultural programming, an international food village, and the spectacular annual fireworks display on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, taking place around Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Check out all that's planned!
Sponsors’ and children’s activities will return to Belleville Street with plenty of interactive fun for the whole family. The ever-popular Coast Capital Living Flag will return to the Legislature Lawns and 1,500 free red and white T-shirts will be available to participants.
The City of Victoria is pleased to welcome back Coast Capital Savings as the Presenting Sponsor of Victoria Celebrates Canada Day. The celebration’s ever-expanding youth programming has been made possible by the generous support of the credit union over the past seven years.
Main Stage Performances
Main Stage performances on July 1 will provide a multicultural concert experience, taking place on the Legislature Lawns at Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Headlining this year is Vancouver’s cultural-fusion, the energetic, and multi-faceted Delhi 2 Dublin, performing from their upcoming album that is slated for release in August.
An exciting mix of local and cultural acts will also join the Main Stage showcase, including Vancouver’s soul, funk boys The Boom Booms, presented in partnership with Victoria’s Ska and Reggae Festival; Vancouver-based “Fairy-Folk” musician Jordan Klassen; Juno award-winning and island-based children's performer Helen Austin; Victoria-native Mike Edel; Island favourites Carmanah, The Taiko Drummers, and more.
Montreal-based francophone electronic pop band, Monogrenade, will take to the Canada Day main stage shortly before sunset. With the release of their beautifully complex 2014 album, Composite, and performances at prestigious festivals including FrancoFolies de Montréal, Canadian Music Week, Festival d'été de Québec and FME, they’ve gained attention both nationally and from across the Atlantic for their unique sound. French programming on the Victoria Celebrates Canada Day main stage is made possible thanks to the support of the Canada-British Columbia Official Languages Agreement on French-Language Services.
