Former Victoria Mayor Peter Pollen Passes Away

The City of Victoria wishes to convey heartfelt condolences to the family of former Victoria Mayor Peter Pollen. He passed away yesterday at the age of 89.

Peter Pollen served as Mayor of Victoria from 1971 to 1975 and from 1981 to 1985. He was recognized by the Hallmark Society in recent years for his dedication to heritage preservation in Victoria.

Peter's family has confirmed that a public memorial service is planned for Tuesday, January 10 at 2 p.m. at Christchurch Cathedral (930 Burdett Avenue).

In recognition of Peter Pollen’s passing, Canadian flags on City of Victoria property will remain at half-mast until sunset today and also be lowered from sunrise to sunset on the day of his memorial service (Tuesday, January 10).
