Hillside and Blanshard Intersection Closed Sunday for Paving

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised that the intersection of Hillside and Blanshard will be closed for paving on Sunday, September 25 from 7 a.m. until approximately 1 a.m. Monday, September 26. The closure is weather dependent as the road must be dry for paving to occur.

Street closures and detours will be in effect starting at 6 a.m. on Sunday. Signage and traffic control personnel will be onsite to direct vehicle and bicycle traffic and pedestrians around the intersection. As this is one of Victoria’s busiest intersections, the closure has been scheduled for a Sunday to minimize impacts to weekday commuter traffic.

The City of Victoria has been working to minimize impacts during the course of the project and local access will be maintained for businesses, BC Transit and emergency responders on Sunday. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure.

Once completed, the intersection will include a new asphalt surface, new traffic signals, improved sidewalk and wheelchair ramp mobility access, and upgraded storm catch basins for improved drainage.
