Become a Volunteer with Victoria Emergency Management
August 18, 2016
Learn about becoming a volunteer with Victoria Emergency Management at the upcoming Volunteer Information Session on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Victoria City Hall Antechamber.
Are you community-minded and calm under pressure? Do you want to use your skills to give back to your community in an emergency situation? Victoria Emergency Management is looking for dedicated individuals to join its four volunteer teams. Volunteering with Victoria Emergency Management means you’ll be part of the action in an emergency.
Depending on the team, you may be assisting evacuees, participating in urban search and rescue, transporting supplies by bike, providing radio communications support, administering first aid or assisting the City’s Emergency Operations Centre. You may also share emergency preparedness information at community events.
All volunteer training is provided free of charge to active team members. Volunteers must be 19 years of age
or older and undergo an annual criminal record check. Volunteer Teams include:
- Emergency Social Services (includes Evacuee Assistance, Cyclist Response, Disaster First Aid, and Emergency Preparedness Public Education)
- Emergency Operations Centre Support
- Urban Search and Rescue
- Auxiliary (Radio) Communications
To register, email email@example.com or call 250.920.3373.
