Water Main Upgrades on Government, Chatham and Caledonia Streets

Starting today, work will begin to replace and upgrade water mains along Government Street, Chatham Street and Caledonia Street, in order to upgrade the legacy cast iron water supply mains that were constructed over 100 years ago.

This year, the City of Victoria is completing a number of water service upgrade projects designed to deliver high quality water to residents and make upgrades to improve fire suppression capacity and seismic capability.

Construction is expected to be completed in May. The City of Victoria will work to minimize inconvenience during the 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. construction hours and local access will be maintained.  Some parking restrictions will be required at times and some delays to traffic are expected. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.
