Archives > City Government Records > City Records Series (CRS) Search Page > Full Listing
All available City Records Series descriptions can be viewed together in several different ways: by subject, by creator, and by series number. There are separate lists for each of these views of the descriptions, all of which contain the same information. All three lists are relatively large. In addition, these large subject, creator, and series number lists have been broken down into smaller groupings, as follows:
(1) Subjects:
An index of subjects provides links to relevant descriptions. It should be noted that this index refers to subjects covered by the series as a whole. In other words, it does not include subjects referring to individual files or sets of files within a series. As a result, much may be missed if some of the broader central administrative records series are overlooked (all of which are indexed under the heading "General"). For example, the "Airport" link in the subject index leads to a description of the Airport Committee Minutes, but provides no indication that significant material on airports may be found in the City Council Minutes and the City Manager's files, as well as in other records series.
(2) Creators:
An index of creating agencies provides links to relevant descriptions. Please
note that all records series created by City Council and its committees are listed
as issuing from the office of the City Clerk, the administrative officer responsible
for Council's recordkeeping. Administrative
histories are available for some City agencies.
(3) Series Numbers:
The numerical listing of records series has been broken down into groups of ten descriptions each.
Restrictions apply to some of the records under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Records series containing restricted records have been indicated as such in the descriptions. In most cases, access to such records can be granted for legitimate research purposes after a Research Agreement has been completed. This can often be done in the Archives at the time the request is made.
Please note that all individual subject and number links are designed to open the linked page at the first relevant item (clicking on "Business", for instance, should link to the first description under that heading). However, some browsers may instead open the relevant page at its beginning, requiring the user to scroll down to the relevant description.
