Maynard, Richard & Hannah The Maynards arrived in Victoria in 1862 with cameras and equipment. Hannah, who had learnt the art of photography in Ontario, set up a studio and Richard who was a Bootmaker by trade set up and adjoining boot and shoe store. Richard also took up photography and together they travelled throughout the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver Island. They also photographed the Cariboo gold rush and the Canadian Pacific Railway. Richard died in 1907 and Hannah continued the business until 1912. 16
