| Rithet, Robert Paterson | Came to Victoria in 1862. He joined the Cariboo gold rush returning to Victoria in 1865. He had various jobs but eventually became involved in the wholesale grocery business. By 1869 he was the local manager of Sproat & Co. and was later moved to San Francisco to manage to company there. In San Francisco he made new business contacts. He moved back to Victoria and founded Welsh Rithet & Co. The company was later re-named R. P. Rithet & Co. after the death of Andrew Welsh. Rithet served as Justice of the Peace (1873), Mayor of Victoria (1885), M.L.A.
