We’ve been growing orcas at the City of Victoria for the past five years and figure it’s time to share a few tips.
In early spring the City of Victoria staff plant over 12,000 seeds in the warmth of the greenhouse. These seedlings are then lovingly added to the mom and baby orca figures. Watch how here:
After a few months of watering and nurturing, in late May the mother and baby orca migrate downtown (with the help of a crane.)
The final touch is the placement of the mother’s dorsal fin- an important last step.
Visit ‘Surfacing’ downtown Victoria, British Columbia, at the corner of Humboldt and Government Streets. It is a popular attraction for residents and over three million visitors to Victoria each year.
