Public Schools
Public elementary and secondary schools are available throughout Victoria. Four school boards govern public schools.
Private Schools
Several private and religiously affiliated schools also operate within Victoria. These fee-based institutions attract students from around the world, and offer high academic standards, athletic activities and individual tutoring.
Universities/Colleges
- University of Victoria
The University of Victoria, one of Canada's leading universities, provides both students and faculty with a unique learning environment. UVic has earned a reputation for commitment to research, scholarship and work-integrated learning. The university is widely recognized for its innovative and responsive programs and its interdisciplinary and international initiatives. Here, more than 18,000 students from around the world enjoy a campus community that offers outstanding social, cultural, artistic, environmental and athletic opportunities.
- Royal Roads University
Created in 1995,Royal Roads University is the only public university in Canada created solely to address the knowledge needs of the global workplace through applied and professional programs. The university concentrates on its four founding themes: entrepreneurship and management; leadership; environmental sustainability; and conflict resolution. Most programs are at the Master degree level although they also offer innovative undergraduate completion programs in commerce, environmental science, justice studies and professional communications - as well as an increasing number of graduate diplomas, executive certificates, and professional development programs.
- Camosun College
Camosun College is a dynamic and innovative community college serving the educational and training needs of the people of Victoria, southern Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and beyond. Camosun has two main campuses. The Lansdowne campus and the Interurban campus serve over 7,800 credit students, 10,000 non-credit students and 560 international students each year.
- Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific
Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific is one of seven United World Colleges. The school offers a two-year International Baccalaureate Program, and promotes international understanding through education to 200 students representing 70 countries.
- University Canada West
University Canada West is the newest private university to open in Victoria. The university aims to provide high quality degree programs. Using flexible delivery models and excellent academic resources, its commitment is to student success in fields of study that build on the unique strengths and opportunities of Vancouver Island. The University delivers both undergraduate and graduate programming through its Faculty of Arts and Science, and Faculty of Business and Management.
