The Hockey Equipment Lending Program, known as H.E.L.P., provides families with an opportunity for their children to participate in an introductory hockey session, to use hockey gear for a season, and/or receive financial assistance to register in Minor Hockey in the fall. The City of Victoria, the Victoria Minor Hockey Association and KidSport Greater Victoria have partnered to enable children ages 6 - 12 to play hockey, whom for financial reasons, may not have had access to this organized sport. Through a Bell Community Sport Fund grant of $25,000 in 2007, the City of Victoria purchased 54 sets of hockey gear, each containing a bag, helmet, gloves, pads, a practice jersey, shorts and skates. Last year, the gear was lent out to families who applied for its use for one season. To expand the H.E.L.P. program, the City has invited the Victoria Minor Hockey Association and KidSport Greater Victoria to participate. H.E.L.P.
