Our Mission

Through innovative leadership, ensure the provision of parks, recreation and community programs, services, and initiatives that promote community well being and enhance the quality of life of citizens to produce a healthy, vibrant, positive and strong community.

Our Department provides many of the quality of life services for the City of Victoria as well as regional services. The focus of the Department is to ensure efficient, effective, responsive and integrated services that meet the diverse cultural, recreational, educational and information needs of our community.

We are organized into three Divisions. Click on the box for more detailed information on each:

Parks Provides ornamental gardens, natural ecosystems, sport and entertainment venues and playgrounds for recreational and cultural enjoyment in a beautiful and safe environment; preserves and enhances green spaces on public lands.	Recreation Services Facilitates the provision of recreation and wellness programs and services through the City's pool, arena, Royal Athletic Park, Community and Seniors' Centres.	Community Development Co-ordinates and leads efforts to enhance our neighbourhoods, foster arts and culture, and work to create a City that is vibrant and people centres.
