A Neighbourhood Planning Program is a term for a municipality's approach to planning at the neighbourhood level and can include how it is administratively structured, sanctioned and delivered, in addition to the actual planning process and community involvement practices. Victoria's Neighbourhood Planning Review The City of Victoria is reviewing its current neighbourhood planning approach to design and develop an integrated program for use in all Victoria neighbourhoods. Two stakeholder meetings were held last year to identify the community's and development industry's neighbourhood planning issues. Transcriptions of the issues raised at these meetings are provided below.
The City has also researched neighbourhood planning best practices used in Seattle, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Lethbridge. This two-step analysis has resulted in a synthesis of the issues, opportunities and challenges associated with neighbourhood planning in Victoria, titled Neighbourhood Planning: A Discussion Paper.
