Intent of Grant Program:
The grant program's purpose is to nurture outdoor festivals and celebrations held within the City of Victoria, facilitate their growth and ensure their continued success. The financial support will assist organizations with the development of new festivals and celebrations or to improve or expand existing events.
High quality festivals and celebrations contribute to the community's well being and economic health. The City places the pursuit of arts, culture and tourism opportunities as one of its primary objectives as a means to strengthen it's downtown and enhance the City's liveablility.

Neighbourhood Development Program Grants
Neighbourhood Base Grant
The Neighbourhood Development Base Grant contributes to the implementation of the Neighbourhood Development Policy. The intention of the Base Grants is to: enhance the organizational, communication, visibility, operational capacity and effectiveness of community associations; resulting in more consistent outreach to the community at large. The base grant assures that each neighbourhood has access and activities related to: a neighbourhood space or meeting place, some form of local coordination of activities, appropriate means of communications with its members and neighbourhood special events or celebrations.

Neighbourhood Enhancement Matching Grant
The Neighbourhood Enhancement Matching Grant provides opportunities for neighbourhood community associations to start innovative and creative community projects to improve their neighbourhoods. The projects must provide an overall benefit to the neighbourhood, and involve a broad base of people to promote community development and build neighbourhood connections. Enhancement Matching Grants can be for one of the following categories: neighbourhood planning, neighbourhood improvements, school partnership projects, program development or capital equipment acquisition.

Neighbourhood Greenways Grant
The Neighbourhood Greenways Grants are designed to support and enhance greenways in the City of Victoria's neighbourhoods. This grant program will fund neighbourhood groups/community associations wishing to build or animate a portion of a City of Victoria Greenway. The goal of the program is to enhance and develop interesting neighbourhood sites on the Greenways arterial grid.

The City of Victoria has implemented two community arts programs to create opportunities for enriched arts and cultural experience within the life of the community. They are the Artist-in-residence Program (AIR) and Community Public Art Program (CPA) which are designed to:
- encourage creative collaboration between artists and the broad community to create a legacy of permanent art works
- increase citizen participation in artistic processes and activities, and
- increase public appreciation of the value of art in cultural, social, educational and economic life of the community.

Groups wishing to apply for the Canadian Heritage Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage (BCAH) Grant Program will require confirmation of event support from the municipality where the event is taking place.
For the September and April (BCAH) deadlines, groups planning an event in the City of Victoria will need to project a level of municipal support indicating that the City's support will be confirmed at the end of December.
Request for support of cash and/or to the City for BCAH events are required by November 1. These submissions are to include a copy of the organizations BCAH grant application along with a Festival Investment Grant application and in-kind request.
