Departments > Planning & Development > What's New - Current Projects > Downtown Core Area Plan > Downtown Victoria Plan Update > Fast Track Items In March 2007, Council asked staff to accelerate four topics relating to the Downtown Plan update including the development of interim policies for high density livability, building height, bonus density and to consider the question of the downtown boundary. At a Council workshop on June 28, 2007, staff presented information about the downtown boundary and density bonus. Council considered reports relating to high density livability guidelines and height in April and June respectively and interim policies on these two topics have been approved. Summaries of each of the four fast track items are described below: High Density Livability
Height
Downtown Boundary
Bonus Density On November 15, 2007 Committee of the Whole passed a resolution placing the proposed interim downtown bonus density policy on hold, and directed staff to move forward with the development of a new draft policy in the Downtown Plan Update in accordance with the principles included in Attachment E to the September 12, 2007 staff report. In the interim, applications for bonus density will continue to be evaluated on a case by case basis at rezoning, in accordance with the existing policy set out in Downtown Victoria Plan 1990, Section B3.2 Density and Bonusing.
