Using public feedback from community workshops, a Vision, as well as a set of Principles and Goals has been developed for the downtown. These items help to formalize the aspirations that residents of Victoria have for their downtown. The Vision, Principles, and Goals will also help to shape the policies that will be crafted in the later phases of the Downtown Plan review. Major exercises completed during Phase 1 workshops included community mapping exercises about the edges of Downtown, and maps where participants were asked to identify what they valued about Downtown. The information gathered was used by staff and the Steering Committee to draft the Vision, Principles and Goals.
Project Charter and Process Maps – Phase 1 City Planning staff worked with a Council-selected Steering Committee and numerous stakeholders to develop a Vision and the Principles and Goals that will underpin an updated plan for Downtown. A Team Charter was created for the Steering Committee, setting out the roles, responsibilities and procedures of the Committee in Phase 1. A Process Map was also created to guide the process.
