Annual December Food Drive

Help support those in need in your community by participating in the City's Annual Public Works Food Drive. From Monday, December 5 to Friday, December 9, 2011, Public Works crews will be collecting donated food items from Victoria households during the 12th Annual Public Works Food Drive.

How to Participate

To participate, place non-perishable food items in plastic bags labelled "Food Drive" and set them next to your garbage can for pick up on your designated collection day that week.

Special bins attached to City trucks will be used to collect the food, and donations will be delivered daily to the food bank.

To look up your garbage collection day online, visit: www.victoria.ca/garbagecollection

Our Goal

Over the past decade, the City of Victoria Public Works Food Drive has collected more than $300,000 worth of food for the Mustard Seed Food Bank. Last year, Victoria residents donated close to 14,500 pounds of non-perishable food items with an approximate value of $35,000. With your support, our goal is to collect 20,000 pounds this year.

Please join us in ensuring that no one in our community has to go without during the holiday season. Special thanks to CUPE Local 50 for making the annual food drive possible. Thank you for your support.
