PUBLIC HEARING: 1244 Wharf Street – Rezoning Application
Following a Public Hearing, Council voted to approve a Rezoning Application for 1244 Wharf Street. This application will allow for hotel use and for residential uses to be permitted below the ground floor.
PUBLIC HEARING: 123/125 Government Street – Development Variance Permit
Following a Public Hearing, Council voted to approve a Development Variance Permit for 123/125 Government Street. This application will allow for strata subdivision of the existing two family dwelling.
PUBLIC HEARING: 1250 Dallas Road – Development Variance Permit
Following a Public Hearing, Council voted to decline a Development Variance Permit for 1250 Dallas Road. This application would allow the addition of dormers to the existing garage with variances for height of accessory building and size of accessory building and reduction of one parking stall.
Local Government Recommendation for Seed and Stone Cannabis at 1150 Douglas Street
An application to theLiquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch for a provincial cannabis retail store licence for Seed and Stone Cannabis at 1150 Douglas Street has been endorsed by City Council, subject to the applicant’s compliance with City bylaws and permits.
Victoria 3.0 Recovery Reinvention Resilience Progress Report
Council has approved $117,000 from the 2021 Financial Plan contingency budget to support the initial planning for an Arts & Innovation District. Staff will brainstorm specific actions to ensure that economic development proceeds in an inclusive and equitable manner and will report back with opportunities to provide a circular economy lens to actions within the Victoria 3.0 strategy.
Options to Support Rapid Deployment of Affordable Housing through Regulatory and Process Changes
Council has directed staff to undertake focused consultation with non-profit affordable housing providers, the Urban Development Institute and community association land use committees (CALUCs) in relation to the proposal to amend the Zoning Bylaws and Land Use Procedures Bylaw to support rapid deployment of affordable housing.
Council Member Motion - Addressing Parking Pressures in Victoria West
Council has directed staffto work with the Island Corridor Foundation and other entities to explore options for addressing parking pressures in Victoria West.
Temporary Relocation of Council Meetings
Council and Committee of the Whole meetings will continue to be held at the Capital Regional District board room until August 31, 2021 as HVAC upgrades in City Hall continue.
Banfield Park Dock Expansion and Gorge Waterway Park
Council has directed staff toprepare amendments to the Gorge Waterway Park Zoning Regulation Bylaw in order to facilitate the expansion of the Banfield Park swimming dock, including waiving the requirement for pre-submission Community Association Land Use Committee consultation.
