Development Permit with Variances: 1400 Quadra Street (Harris Green)
Following a public hearing, Council approved a development permit with variances application to allow for a 14-storey mixed use building with ground floor commercial and purpose built rental above.
Heritage Designation: 1314/1324 Douglas Street and 645/651 Johnson Street (Downtown)
Following a public hearing, Council approved a heritage designation application to designate the building at 1314/1324 Douglas and 645/651 Johnsonas protected heritage property.
Development Permit with Variances: 1501-1503 Haultain Street (Oaklands)
Following an opportunity for public comment, Council referred an application for a development permit with variances back to the applicant to work with staff and the neighbourhood to address the design and massing concerns. This application proposed to construct a third residential storey consisting of three dwelling units.
Response to BCLC Regarding a Casino Licence in Victoria
Council has agreed to postpone indefinitely any further consideration on hosting a casino in Victoria.
My Great Neighbourhood Grants
Twenty-two applications for My Great Neighbourhood Grants have been approved for the fall 2018 intake. The program provides grants to help residents animate public space, develop and enhance a sense of community and leave a positive legacy in our neighbourhoods.

Victoria Housing Reserve Fund Guidelines Update
The City has updated the Victoria Housing Reserve Fund Guidelines, including prioritizing projects with low income housing units, having two application deadlines annually, and only funding projects within the City of Victoria proper. In addition, the guidelines were further expanded to require projects to adhere to the Tenant Assistance Policy, as well as to prioritize projects that provide housing for persons with disabilities, individuals and families who are either experiencing homelessness or are at risk, and projects that have affordability in perpetuity.

Recovering Municipal Costs Arising from Climate Change
Council has endorsed a resolution for consideration at the Union of BC Municipalities (UCBM) and Association of Vancouver Island Coast Communities (AVICC) to explore the initiation of a class action lawsuit on behalf of member local governments to recover costs arising from climate change from major fossil fuels corporations, and asking that the province of BC consider legislation to support local governments in recovering those costs.
Public Hearing Submissions and Public Comment Policy
The City’s Correspondence Management Policy has been revised to include a closing time of 2 p.m. on the day of a public hearing for receiving submissions by Legislative Services to be published on an agenda, and standards for receiving those submissions. All submissions intended for input into a public hearing should only be sent to email@example.com
