Build Back Victoria – Call for Mobile Vendors Summer and Fall 2022
April 20, 2022
The City of Victoria continues to welcome applications for licenced mobile vendors and food trucks to operate in 15 stalls at eight different locations throughout the city. Stalls are free for approved vendors in the Build Back Victoria Program and are available on a two-week rotation until the end of October.
“Mobile vendors and food trucks are popular with locals and visitors alike” says Mayor Lisa Helps. “This is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to reach more customers during what is expected to be a busy summer season, while helping to activate our streets, parks and public spaces.”
The Build Back Victoria program is designed to help businesses of all sizes adapt and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic by offering flexible options to operate in public spaces. Designated mobile vending stalls are located at city parks, in neighbourhood centres, and on busy walking and cycling routes. Stalls are located away from competing storefront businesses and are available to operate from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The mobile vending program was launched in June 2020 and since then more than 25 mobile vendors have participated, including food trucks, ice cream trucks and other mobile services such as dentist, massage therapy, acupuncture, and bicycle repair.
In addition to temporary mobile vending, the City also offers a permanent bicycle vending program for entrepreneurs to try out a business concept with low start-up costs.
Interested mobile vendors can apply for a free permit all summer long and get more information on booking a space, including a map of available locations.
