Candidates Declared for City of Victoria’s 2022 Local Government Election

The Declaration of Candidates [PDF - 135 KB] running for Mayor and Council in the City of Victoria’s 2022 Local Government Election is now available. 

An online Candidate Profile Guide containing information provided by each candidate will be available on Monday, September 19.  

Anyone eligible to vote may request a mail ballot by filling out an online form or calling 250.361.0571 starting Monday, September 12. 

In mid-September, registered voters in Victoria will receive information on how and where to vote by way of a Voter Card, and all Victoria residents will receive a “special election edition” of the City of Victoria’s Connect newsletter in the mail. The newsletter, fact sheets in multiple languages and a helpful video will be available on the City’s website. The free Victoria Votes app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play later this month. 

General Voting Day will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All municipalities and electoral areas in B.C. will be holding local government elections on the same day. A list of advance voting days in Victoria is available on the City’s website. 

Voters in Victoria will vote to elect: 

  • 1 Mayor 

  • 8 Councillors 

  • 9 School Trustees (Greater Victoria School District 61) 

  • 3 CRD Directors
