Community Invited to Tree Appreciation Day Event

Celebrate Tree Appreciation Day in Beacon Hill Park. Join City staff and local experts for a fall celebration of all things trees. Participate in tree tours, tree planting and moth banding demonstrations, kids’ nature activities, apple pressing, a tree health clinic and more.

Schedule of Activities:

Noon-2 p.m.

  • Apple pressing and hot apple cider tasting with LifeCycles Project Society 
  • Interactive information tables with non-profit partners including the Habitat Acquisition Trust, the Garry Oak Meadow Preservation Society and the Compost Education Centre
  • Native and pollinator seed-ball making with the Yarrow Collective
  • Tree pest and disease clinic – bring samples of affected trees or insects and get expert advice from City staff
  • Native plant giveaway from the City of Victoria Parks Department

12:30-1:15 p.m. 

  • Garry oak and arbutus planting demonstrations led by City staff

1:15-2 p.m.

  • Tree tours led by City staff
