Suzhou International Youth Painting Contest

Our Twin City partners in Suzhou, China are inviting children and youth from Greater Victoria to enter the Suzhou International Youth Painting Contest: Gardens in the Eyes of Children.

Children and youth ages 6 – 14 who live in Greater Victoria are invited to submit a painted artwork of the beautiful architecture, gardening landscapes, parks or botanical gardens in Victoria.

Prizes will be awarded for top submissions and the artwork will be displayed in Suzhou’s libraries, subway and in the Suzhou Foreign Affairs Office. Some paintings may also be made into souvenirs for friends of Suzhou all around the world.

Submission Requirements

  • Artwork dimensions must be 8.5." x 11"
  • Paint can be acrylic, water colour, oil, etc. 
  • Please include a family name and mailing address on the back of the painting if you would like to be eligible to receive a prize.

Deadline for Submissions

The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 19, 2022.

Background

Suzhou, China was adopted as a Twin City by Victoria City Council on July 17, 1980. With many gardens scattered throughout the city, Suzhou is known as the “City of Gardens”, nine of which have been recognized as UNESCO World Culture Heritage Sites. These gardens, built centuries ago as private residences, are now public parks that attract tourists from around the world. Learn more.
