New Park and Playground Open in Vic West
September 8, 2023
Victoria’s newest park and playground are now open in the Victoria West neighbourhood. Bridges Park is the final piece of a 21-year build-out of the RailYards development, located along Victoria’s waterfront. The 1,000 square metre park has been turned over to the City by the developer, Le Fevre and Company, following completion of the housing development.
The new playground features an accessible rubberized play surface, wooden play structure with slide, a nest swing and a water/sand play feature to create a rich sensory experience.
This waterfront park is conveniently located at an important hub in the City’s active transportation network, connecting to the Point Ellis Bridge and the Galloping Goose Regional Trail.
The park landscape includes places to relax, gather and enjoy spectacular views of the Upper Harbour and downtown Victoria. The site incorporates a small Garry oak knoll and native plants to provide habitat for pollinators and wildlife.
Guided by the Parks and Open Spaces Master Plan, Bridges Park provides a new space for people of all ages to gather and socialize. It serves as a common ground where families, parents, caregivers and children can interact and form connections that strengthen the sense of community.
