Pre-Authorized Withdrawal
Property owners and residents may wish to enroll in automatic pre-authorized payment programs for property taxes and utility bills.
For utility bills, once you sign up for the Pre-authorized Payment Program, your financial institution will automatically withdraw the balance of your utility bill on the due date. You will still receive a copy of your bill in the mail for your records, but you won't have to wait in line, write cheques or pay postage or late fees. Your bill will always be paid on time - even when you're on vacation.
For property taxes an automatic withdrawal occurs 10 months of the year. On the first day of the month, a fixed amount is automatically debited from your bank account. Once taxes have been determined the remaining balance will be debited on the due date in July. This program allows you to pay on a monthly basis instead of one lump sum - making budgeting easier and helping you avoid the risk of a penalty.
