Neighbourhood Grants

Community Funding Opportunities

Great Neighbourhood Grants

This is a matched funding program for neighbourhood led activities and placemaking projects. The objective of the program is to fund initiatives that help build community. Over 125 projects have been approved since inception of the program in 2015.

There are spring (closing April 15) and fall (closing October 15) intakes for activities (up to $1,000) and placemaking projects (up to $5,000). If you are not a registered society, then you need to find a society to sponsor your application. Staff are available to assist you with the process. Contact neighbourhoods@victoria.ca and look at the My Great Neighbourhood webpages.

Strategic Plan Grants

This program was established to provide community funding in support of initiatives that help fulfill Council’s Strategic Plan priorities. Applicants should look to see if their neighbourhood interests are aligned with those in the plan. The application process closed on January 31 in 2019. Find more information on the Strategic Grant webpages.

Festival Investment Grants

The Festival Investment Grant is intended to nurture outdoor festivals and celebrations held within the City of Victoria, facilitate their growth and ensure their continued success. This includes community celebrations run and organized by volunteer non-profit boards with a broad base of support from the local community. Note that block parties, picnics, garden shows, street markets and carnivals are not funded by this program. Grants will cover up to 25% of the event cost. The 2019 intake closes on October 31. Find more information on the Festival Investment Grant webpages.
