Growing in the City Volunteer Coordinator Grants provide funding to eligible organizations responsible for managing Growing in the City initiatives to help hire a volunteer coordinator. Eligible Growing in the City initiatives include community gardens (as defined in the City’s Community Garden Policy), community boulevard gardening, and the Urban Food Tree Stewardship Program. The grants are intended to provide funding for a person to conduct outreach and coordinate volunteers and to promote educational gardening and food growing opportunities for the community.
The 2021 intake for the Growing in the City Volunteer Coordinator Grant program opens November 15, 2021 and will close January 31, 2022, which will allow for Council consideration of applications in February 2022 and payment of approved grants in spring 2022.
