Free Programs in the Park
Outdoor activities and community programming has moved to Royal Athletic Park for the 2021 Summer. These programs are FREE for residents. To register, go to Programs & Registration.

Time: 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Dancing in the Park: The Victoria Ballroom Dance Society, Swing City, West Coast Swing Collective, Country Dancers, and Adam Hanna School of Dance present a beginners’ lesson in line dancing and ballroom dancing, and will open it up to a free dance after. A live band (The Commodores) will play on July 12 and August 16, and the dance hosts will provide pre-recorded playlists for the other evenings.

Time: 11am – 12pm
Sweet Succulent Success: A 60-minute experience where participants (ages 8 and up) can create a tin can succulent planter. You will get step-by-step instructions on how to prepare soil, select succulents and provide proper care for them. They’re a welcome addition to any sunny window or garden side table. Space and supplies are limited, so make sure you arrive early to secure your spot. The instructor will bring pots, soil, decorative accents, and all of the gardening tools needed.

Supply Victoria: Divert materials from the landfill during this outdoor, all-ages, creative reuse crafting workshop. Participants will upcycle colorful cast-off materials into fun and useful projects. Learn how to turn plastic net produce bags and felt into your own dish scrubbie, razzle dazzle your buds with a homemade keychain wristlet, make your own knitted rug, scarf, finger puppet or chapstick holder necklace. All ages are welcome and no materials or experience are necessary. Learn more about Supply Victoria.

Time: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Unity Mandala: This craft workshop will guide participants through community creation of a mandala, made from wooden clothes hangers. Participants will learn about mandalas and their significance and will then paint two hangers - one for yin and one for yang. The participants’ stories will be captured, and the hangers will be put together at the end into a piece of art.
