Other Performance Venues

Below is a brief list of locations and contact numbers of outdoor performance venues not coordinated by the City of Victoria.

For visiting bands and choirs, permission to use these spaces should be arranged before arriving in Victoria.

Bastion Square

This charming historic square adjoins the Maritime Museum, surrounded by heritage buildings and overlooking the harbour on Wharf Street. Benches, shallow stepped areas and outdoor cafes. Some restrictions may apply.

The Bastion Square Public Market features juried artists, artisans and musicians. For market inquries, email the market organizer.

Inner Harbour Locations:

Lower Causeway, Inner Harbour, Ship Point Wharf

Lower Level of Inner Harbour adjoining the water, backed by high stone harbour wall, and across the road from the Fairmont Empress Hotel. A very popular spot, always busy with buskers, artists and tourists in the summer. Contact the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority for more information.

Belleville Street Forecourt & Upper Plaza

(next to Tourism Victoria Provincial Capital Commission)
Small sized groups (maximum 15), with non-amplified entertainment, are welcome to perform in these high traffic Inner Harbour locations.

Parliament Buildings - Front Steps and Lawns

Overlooking Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour, the Parliament Buildings offer a majestic backdrop for public events, including band and choir performances on the front steps, large community celebrations on the front lawns, and photographic sessions on the rear steps of the Legislative Library or in the Premier's Rose Garden. Market Square

Historic square in the centre of Victoria's oldest heritage shopping area. Great atmosphere, natural outdoor "amphitheatre" in centre of specialty shops and overlooked by walkways to upper level shops and offices. Covered area available for poor weather. A popular place for community events.

St. Ann's Academy

St. Ann's is located just two blocks from the Inner Harbour. A former convent school built between 1871 and 1910 sits on 6.5 hectares of public ground. A portion of the historic interiors is open to the public, which vary with the season. Various areas of the site, especially the grand staircase and oak-lined drive, are available for performances by arrangement. As the site is frequently rented for other special events, please check all dates for availability.
