Stories of Celebration will feature readings by local writers Agartu Ali, Asiyah Robinson and Youth Poet Laureate Aziza Moqia Sealey-Qaylow. Join us and follow the telling of their journeys through life, and explore themes of joy, relief and success. Learn more.
The event is a partnership between the City of Victoria and the Greater Victoria Public Library, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the League of Canadian Poets.
Aziza was appointed as Victoria’s 2019 Youth Poet Laureate by City Council on January 10, 2019 and is finishing her one-year term in December. Since being formally appointed to the position, Aziza has created three new works of poetry, presented at bi-monthly City Council meetings, served as a judge on the panel for the Greater Victoria Public Library Teen Writing Contest, and collaborated with the Greater Victoria Public Library on a poetry workshop for teens.
