Obtaining an Occupancy Permit
A final inspection for your building permit will only occur after substantial completion of the building or project, and after all of the Schedule "C" forms have been completed by each registered professional and submitted to the building inspector.
An occupancy/completion certificate will be issued after all the required final inspections have been completed. Each inspector (or department) will be able to sign off the occupancy permit after the final inspection has been approved. Your approved occupancy permit will be emailed out to the building permit applicant. If no damage has occurred to city property or services, any required damage deposits will then be returned to the depositor, after the occupancy permit has been issued.
NO PERSON SHALL USE OR OCCUPY ANY BUILDING OR PART THEREOF UNTIL HE/SHE HAS RECEIVED AN OCCUPANCY CERTIFICATE FROM THE INSPECTION DIVISION OF THE SUSTAINABLE PLANNING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT.Go to Top
