Public Safety
Victoria is a small urban city, safe and clean. We are well-served by the public safety organizations in our city.
The Victoria Fire Department is a dynamic, professional organization that has been serving the needs of the community since 1858. Our firefighters work as a team, using their highly developed skills and abilities to provide critical, life-saving services in moments of needs.
VictoriaReady is the City's resource for helping our community prepare for an emergency. Responsibility for coordinating an emergency response in the event of a disaster, VictoriaReady also educates and empowers Victoria citizens on how to be "emergency prepared".
The Victoria Police Department (Vic PD) is the oldest police department west of the Great Lakes, with over 240 sworn members and over 100 civilian staff and volunteers proudly serving the City of Victoria. VicPD members take pride in the Department's rich history of public service. Through community partnerships, open communications, and state-of-the-art policing practices, today's VicPD is a modern, progressive force that continues to reduce crime in the region and promote public safety. Members of VicPD work hard every day to exemplify the Department's motto: "Honour Through Service."
