School Crossing Guards
The School Crossing Guard program supports road safety in school zones.
The City of Victoria has been funding school crossing guards at public elementary schools for more than 30 years. For the 2022/2023 school year, the City has provided funding to School District 61 to support 10 safer crossings at seven schools in the City of Victoria.
The school district uses this funding to deliver crossing guard services by employing educational assistants. Dedicated crossing guards are part of the City’s strategy to support road safety together with infrastructure investments and educational programs.
