It's National Emergency Preparedness Week - Time to Get Prepared

National Emergency Preparedness Week is May 1 - 7

National Emergency Preparedness Week (Sunday, May 1 - Saturday, May 7, 2016) is designed to raise awareness of the importance of having an emergency kit and making an emergency plan.

This year's theme is Plan. Prepare. Be Aware. This annual event takes place across Canada each year during the first full week of May.

Victoria has a one in three probability of experiencing a major earthquake in the next 50 years. Does your family have an emergency kit with enough water, food and supplies to cope up to seven days without outside assistance?

And does your family have a designated meeting place to reunite after a major earthquake? Learn more about our Emergency Contact Card.

Now is the time to prepare.

Check out our Recipe for Disaster series to help get you started on preparing your earthquake kit for your family, pets or business!

Participate in a FREE Workshop on May 10 or 11 in the community. Workshops are offered in the spring and fall.

In the event of an earthquake, Drop! Cover! and Hold On! until the shaking stops.
