Remembrance Day Holiday Hours

On Friday, November 11, 2016, City of Victoria facilities will be observing the holiday schedule below for Remembrance Day. Police, fire and those who provide emergency streets and utility services are available 24/7.

Victoria Conference Centre and Administration Office

Kitchen Scraps and Garbage Collection
Kitchen scraps and garbage collection will not occur on Friday, November 11, 2016. You can view your kitchen scraps and garbage collection schedule here.

Garden Waste Drop-Off
City of Victoria residents can drop off their garden waste, year-round at the Public Works Yard at 417 Garbally Road, Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Please bring a City of Victoria utility bill or a driver's licence which shows residence at a property that has kitchen scraps and garbage service. This service is not for commercial use. The garden waste drop-off area will be open on Saturday, November 12. For more information, call 250.361.0400 or click here.

Emergency Streets and Utilities Services
Emergency streets and utility services are not affected by the holiday and can be contacted day or night at 250.361.0400.

Parking downtown at City parkades and at on-street meters will be free on Friday, November 11 for Remembrance Day, in addition to Sunday, November 13.

Canadian Flags at Half-Mast
Canadian flags on City buildings will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Friday, November 11 to recognize Remembrance Day. Where a Canadian flag and a British Columbia flag fly near to one other, both flags will be lowered to half-mast.

Remembrance Day Ceremony
The Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Friday, November 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cenotaph on the BC Legislature lawn.
