LED Streetlight Replacement Project Underway

Victoria has started replacing its old streetlights with new, energy efficient LED streetlights. The first phase includes the replacement of streetlights on all City owned, metal poles, followed by the replacement of all City owned streetlights on BC Hydro owned wooden poles. The project is expected to be completed near the end of 2017.

In Victoria, streetlights are a major user of electricity, and in order to reduce costs and improve sustainability, the City is replacing the legacy High Pressure Sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED units, which provide a number of benefits.

The public may see work taking place in different areas around Victoria at different times, including the downtown core. Residents and business owners that have questions about the LED Replacement Project can click here to find out more about the project, as well as information to report any issues.
